  8. In 1962, Rod won the Grand Slam as an 
  9. amateur. The next year, he turned pro-
  10. fessional. At that time, pros were not allowed
  11. to play in Grand Slam tournaments. In 1968,
  12. that rule was changed, and a year later, Rod
  13. won the Grand Slam again!

  15. Rod grew up in Australia. He was small, but
  16. he became very strong by working on his
  17. fatherΓÇÖs cattle ranch. As a tennis player, 
  18. he was known as "The Rocket." He 
  19. was given the nickname as a joke:
